Optimal Summer Storage:
Best Practices for Storage
To ensure your natural material stays beautiful for decades, we recommend the following routine:
-
Use a protective garment bag: Always store your jacket in a breathable garment bag – either a Stampe bag or your own. This protects against dust and light while allowing the material to "breathe." Always avoid plastic bags, as they trap moisture and can damage the hide.
-
Protection with cedar wood: We strongly recommend using natural cedar wood during storage. Cedar acts as a natural deterrent against moths and provides a subtle, fresh scent without the use of chemicals.
Stampe Storage Set (Bag & 6 Cedar Rings)
We have made it easy for you to care for your clothing. Our specially designed set includes six cedar rings, which we recommend placing as follows for maximum effect:
-
2 rings at the bottom of the garment bag.
-
1 ring in each pocket of the jacket.
-
2 rings on the hanger (the rings are designed with a center hole to easily slide over the hanger hook).
Three Key Perspectives on Summer Storage
To give you a full overview of why this routine is important, consider these angles:
-
The Preservation Perspective: Natural materials contain essential oils. A garment bag ensures these oils do not evaporate too quickly in a dry summer house or a warm wardrobe, preventing the material from becoming stiff or brittle.
-
The Preventative Perspective: Moths thrive in dark, undisturbed closets during the summer months. Cedar wood is a natural and eco-friendly way to keep them away without the use of toxic mothballs or harsh chemical odors.
-
The Economic Perspective: Spending a few minutes on correct summer storage significantly extends the life of your product. It is a small investment today that prevents costly repairs or replacements in the future.
